Actress Nana Ama McBrown Puts Her Plans Into Action.
Popular award-winning Ghanaian actress, Nana Ama McBrown says she is seriously considering a new career in music.
Nana Ama whose performances on live stages such as Okyeame Kwame’s Versatile Show and Becca’s Girl Talk concert earned her considerable applause and admiration appears to have finally made up her mind.
She told Showbiz last Friday that currently the music business has become very competitive and she would not want to enter unprepared. “I have started training my vocals and attending my studio sessions religiously, I want to be mature before I venture into the industry make a final move“, she said.
And many actors and actresses have over the years taken a detour into music and Nana Ama’s decision to follow suit would not come as a surprise. Some actors and actresses who combined music with their acting career include the pretty Juliet Ibrahim, Rama Brew, Kuamawood star Mercy Asiedu and the intriguing comedian Kofi Adu popularly known as Agya Koo .
Nana Ama who just completed directing her ninth movie said it was not easy being an actress and she was aware that and trying to be a musician as well was going to be even more difficult.
“In our society, when a person tries to move from one profession to the other, peoplethen begin to question the rationale. “When did you begin singing, we knew you as an actress or actor, why do you want to do music now and other such discouraging comments.”
It is for this reason that she said she was slowly clearing the way for her music career by performing onother small stages such as weddings so that when she finally releases her album, it would not come as a surprise to her fans.
Nana Ama began singing at church at a very tender age and believes that she should have started singing before taking up acting but “our destinies have been planned for us long before we are born”, she said.
Her final words: ”it takes everybody to be a singer but does not take everybody to be a musician, once you have the dream, with hard work and dedication anything and everything is possible.”
