Esbee making her debut performance in Vagina Monologue.
Female rapper and daughter of Alhaji Sidiku Buari, Esbee is making her debut performance as an actress in the popular stage play; Vagina Monologue.According to her, she chose to be part of the play to encourage people to be free minded when they talk about sex.
The play was being put together by the Department of Theatre Arts, School of Performing Arts, since Thursday, March 12 and would end Saturday, March 14 at the Efua Sutherland Studio, University of Ghana, Legon.
‘Vagina Monologue written is by Eve Ensler delves into female experiences and also serves as an educative platform, touches on issues that are normally considered very important but a taboo to talk about.
An example is saying vagina. It is like a taboo to some persons though it part of the body that should easily be mentioned without any fear.
The play is directed by Abdul Karim Hakib and Esbee who is also an acting student is playing woman two.
Born Semera Buari, she will not be the first in her family to act and pursue music career at the same time, if she indeed would want to continue to act.
“I am happy to be part of the play. It’s informative,” she expressed joy to be part of the production.
“There’s too much undue politics surrounding issues relating to sex…this is largely due to how we have been educated over the years. We should be able to talk about sex freely,” she indicated was one of the reasons she picked the role.
