Ghana’s midfielder Andre Ayew (L) speaks to Ghana’s coach Avram Grant
Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew will return to full training with the Black Stars on Monday after pulling out of Saturday’s recovery training ahead of the second-leg of their 2018 World Cup qualifier against Comoros in Kumasi.
The Swansea City playmaker suffered what looked like a slight knee injury during Saturday’s training at the Accra Sports Stadium.
He started training with his team-mates on Saturday before pulling out with a heavily strapped knee sparking fears of an injury ahead of the crucial second-leg clash in the Garden City on Tuesday.
The Ghana FA has played down on the suspected injury revealing that the Black Stars deputy captain will return to full training on Monday.
“It was not a serious injury. It was just a knock and the medics have taken very good care of him so he should be ready for Monday’s training,” Ghana FA spokesman Ibrahim Sannie Daara said.
The Black Stars team arrived in their home capital just after dawn following a 0-0 draw with Comoros in Friday in the first leg of the round two qualifier for the Fifa 2018 World Cup.
The influential player was widely acclaimed as Ghana’s best man against the islanders and ahead of the second leg in Kumasi, a potential absence will be keenly missed.
