NPP bigger than Akufo-Addo and I – Alan Kyerematen

The two-time failed presidential hopeful, Alan Kyerematen says opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is bigger than any individual in the party.

According to him, no individual or group of persons can hijack the party at the expense of hardworking members seeking to return the NPP back to power.

Alan Kyerematen expressed these sentiments while reacting to the seeming rivalry between the 2012 presidential candidate of the party, Nana Akufo-Addo and himself on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem Thursday.

The Akufo-Addo/Kyerematen rivalry has reignited as the NPP prepares for its National Delegate Congress in March this year.

Supporters of both men are lobbying extensively to ensure their candidate becomes the party’s flagbearer ahead of the 2016 elections.

Alan Kyerematen and his longtime ‘foe’ Nana Akufo-Addo are said to be lacing their boots for battle in March even though the latter is yet to declare his intention to contest the flagbearership position.

But on Dwaso Nsem, Alan Kyerematen stated emphatically that “the issue is not about who leads the NPP; the issue is how we work together as a unified party to win power in 2016”.

“Nana Akufo-Addo and I are not bigger than the NPP; we need to build a strong party to be able to win the elections. Neither Nana nor Alan can do that alone unless we unite”.

He said Ghanaians are yearning for NPP to return to power to end the socio-economic hardships under the Mahama-led administration therefore “we can’t afford to disappoint them”.

Alan Kyerematen warned the NPP risk losing the 2016 general elections if the petty internal wrangling and factionalism in the party is not quelled.
