Abuga Pele is being treated unfairly – Chiana-Paga NDC
Some National Democratic Congress (NDC) Executives in the Chiana-Paga Constituency are claiming their Member of Parliament (MP), Abuga Pele is being used as a scapegoat in the prosecution of persons indicted in the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) scandal.
According to them, all persons indicted in the scandal should be given a fair trial, but the recent development suggest that Mr. Pele is being sacrificed as a scapegoat in the case.
Mr. Pele was last week charged for woefully causing financial loss to the state when he signed a GHC 3 million Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Goodwill International Group without authorization from the sector Minister.
In a media interview on Monday, the former GYEEDA National Coordinator indicated he will be surprised if he is being used as a scapegoat by the NDC.
Speaking on Eyewitness News, the NDC Constituency chairman for Chiana-Paga, James Kojo Kotonam clarified they are not against the prosecution of indicted persons in the GYEEDA case and neither are they against the rule of law.
He was however quick to add that the singling out of Abuga Pele “as the person who is behind all the GYEEDA rot” is unfair.
According to him, the Chiana-Paga NDC executives are in no way making the issue “a party matter but if you put your ears down across the entire country…even people across the political divide are crying foul.”
Mr. Kotonam revealed an emergency meeting is scheduled to take place for party members to discuss the issue and take a decision.
