African Magic to increase Ghanaian content.
The M-Net Regional Director for West Africa, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu has assured Ghanaians that they are going to see more Ghanaian contents on the Africa Magic movie channel very soon.
She stated that it’s her duty to generate very exciting contents which will bring the region and Africa together.
According to her, they realized most of the countries do not have a lot of content on Africa Magic channels especially Movie Magic as compare to the Nigerian industry. For this reason they started engaging some of the countries such Ghana in order to make sure that their movie impacts are felt.
“What we have done is to set up a Ghanaian blog where Ghanaians or the Ghana’s movie industry players can send in their movies or send it to us direct at Africa Magic,” she added.
At a news conference held on Wednesday 2 September 2015 as part of the 2015 MultiChoice African Showcase extravaganza, she noted that since they introduce the blog they have received a lot from the Ghanaian industry and that give a boost to the Ghana’s movie industry market.
She said they always look at quality control which cut across all the content irrespective of where it’s coming from, video output, sound quality, well-written script, production and among others.
Mba-Uzoukwu said with these criteria Ghanaians are improving on their content but quick to add that there are more that need to be done.
“Last year we engaged the industry players in Ghana and the purpose was to educate the players what is expected of them if they want to put content on African Magic,” she stated.
She said that most of the content on African Magic is coming from the Nigerian market because Nigeria is the most popular country with much more content than the other countries such as Ghana. “Nigeria entertainment industry is very vibrant as compare to other countries,” she added.
She earlier reminded guests at the ongoing MultiChoiceAfrica Biggest Content Showcase in Africa that M-Net has a near 30-year history on the continent, where it started with a daily 12-hour broadcast on a single channel.
Now, having changed the way television is viewed across the continent, the broadcaster leads the way in producing, acquiring and showcasing the best entertainment content in Africa.
“Our first broadcast in 1986 led to other firsts like the launch of SuperSport and the Mzansi Magic, Zambezi Magic, Jango Magic and Africa Magic channels; and with the creation of exciting, genre-defining and iconic content likeCarte Blanche and Tinsel, M-Net continues to shape cultures, build bridges and empower talent across Africa even as we remain synonymous with all things entertainment on the continent,” said Mba-Uzoukwu.
