In about nine months to go into elections in Ghana, there have been some efforts been made by some nonpartisan institutions to preach messages of peace ahead of before, during and after the general elections come November 7, 2016.
Ghanaian event, advertising and marketing company, Jaze Consult ensuring a peaceful coexistence among Ghanaians for a healthy and incident free elections is organizing Ghana For Peace Match aimed at prompting peace through friendly football games.
According to Jaze Ade Yawson of Jaze Consult who revealed this on Fire live Radio UK , they are doing that as part of their social responsibilities just to create the awareness of the essence of peace among ourselves irrespective of ones political background.
“Our theme for this year’s Ghana For Peace Match is ‘Let all men live in peace’. We picked this from Romans chapter 12:18. If there is peace in Ghana, we can all be able to concentrate on our businesses. Ghana comes before all the political parties. At the end of the day, everyone has where he will cast his or her vote to but that doesn’t mean we should fight. No political party is bigger than Ghana. Don’t fight your brother because of politics. That’s why we are organization this peace match just to alert people that we have a peaceful Ghana to protect before, during and after the elections.”
He however said the games are being organized in regional bases which they intend starting from the Western Region of Ghana in April 10 this year in Takoradi at the Essipong Sports Stadium.
“We are starting from Takoradi in the Western Region. All political parties will come together to form one team and play with Ghana Police and the media. Because during elections, it is the political parties, the police and the media who take active roles.
Celebrities and the media personalities will also play. Talking about Lilwin, Emelia Brobbey, Bill Asamoah, Akrobeto, Kyeiwaa Majid Michel etc are all coming on board. We want tell the people through the games that all we need is peace.”
Jaze Consult is an event/advertising and marketing consultancy.
This is not the first time they are organizing a program of such. Their last event of such peaceful program was about four years ago when they organized the Akwaaba Peace Traffic for the tertiary students in the Brong Ahafo Region which were attended by overwhelming crowd.
