Nkoranza Municipal Police Command elevated
GNA – The Police Administration has elevated the Nkoranza South Municipal Police Command to a Divisional status to provide adequate security for the people.
The Nkoranza North District has therefore been carved out as a Command with Assistant Superintendent of Police Ambrose Aboagye as the pioneer Commander.
The Municipal Police Commander Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Joseph Owusu announced this when he addressed a fund raising rally organised by the chiefs and people of Kranka in the Nkoranza North District of Brong-Ahafo Region.
It was to support the completion of a local Police station building project, which the community started four years ago.
DSP Owusu commended the chiefs and people of the town for their self-help spirit, saying the inauguration of the station would enhance security and speed up the development of the area.
The presence of Police Personnel would also pave way for the operations of financial institutions and other business entities in the community since they prefer to operate in areas of security assurance.
He urged the people to intensify their efforts to complete the project on schedule.
The Member of Parliament for Nkoranza North, Major Derek Yaw Oduro (Rtd) alleged that because the Bank of Ghana is not proactive some financial institutions had defrauded a number of people in the area and other parts of Brong-Ahafo.
Major Oduro said because the problem has been identified as a “national disaster”, Parliament is making the effort so that those financial institutions would refund the cash to their clients.
He expressed concern about the suspension of the District Assembly and Unit Committee elections in the Nkoranza North and Nkoranza South, due to the financial scandal that had plunged victims into financial crisis.
Major Oduro appealed to Government to address the challenge to ensure peace and progress in the two areas.
Mr Kwadwo Agyei-Dwomor, the District Chief Executive, announced that the government is ready to construct an ultra-modern water closet toilet facility to promote good sanitation in the town and urged the community leaders to prepare a site for the commencement of the project.
Mr Agyei-Dwomor gave the assurance that the District Assembly would support the Police station project with 50 bags of cement towards the project.
