Ronaldo does not own Real Madrid – Marcelo
Brazil defender Marcelo Vieira said in a press conference on Thursday that Cristiano Ronaldo “does not own” Real Madrid and that the door “is open” if Neymar wants to join the club.
The left-back spoke from the Brazil camp in England and was asked if the two would be compatible in the same side.
Ronaldo has been angling for a move away from the Bernabeu, suggesting he could leave after the Champions League final, while Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar’s been linked with a move to the club.
“Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t own Real Madrid, if the president chooses — anyone can be there,” said Marcelo. “There’s no such thing as Neymar not being there because Cristiano is there.
“All of the players want Ronaldo to stay at Real Madrid, but one thing is not related to the other. The door is always open for Neymar to join.
“I think the best players in the world have to play at Real Madrid, and I already said for two or three years that, for me, one day Neymar will be there.”
In addition, Marcelo also defended teammate Sergio Ramos, who has been criticised for his challenges on Liverpool duo Salah and Karius in the Champions League final.
