As you may already know, Charterhouse and its CEO, Mr. Iyiola Ayoade have brought a lawsuit for defamation against the Dancehall King and reigning Artiste of the year, Shatta Wale.
They are seeking the court, inter alia, to award damages of ten million Ghana cedis among other things, against Shatta Wale for what they describe as defamatory statements made against them in some videos he released on Facebook.
Shatta Wale released videos on Facebook as a way of protesting against GH One, for not showing his music video on their network based on the evidence that he had been blacklisted as captured in a chat between a presenter at GH One, Deborah Vanessa and a fan of Shatta Wale.
As the misunderstanding between Charterhouse and Mr. Iyiola Ayoade on one side and Shatta Wale on the other side, heads for court, I am hopeful the court will decide if the videos released by Shatta Wale are indeed defamatory and also substantiate if Shatta Wale had indeed been blacklisted by Charterhouse as its being alleged and most importantly, speak on whether by law, Charterhouse has the right to blacklist any artiste’s works.
Even before the first hearing of the case on October 20, 2014, Shatta Wale’s father, Charles Nii Armah Mensah Snr. had revealed he is the General Manager of Shatta Movement and takes decision for Shatta Wale as an artiste and noted that he has been responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Shatta Movement and Shatta Wale for a very long time.
Shatta Wale’s father made the revelation when he spoke to Ekow Poncho on Showbiz Today on Breeze 90.9fm and later confirmed it to ‘Flex newspaper.
He noted that Bulldog is only in charge of Shatta Wale so far as events are concerned as he is the Events Manager.
When ‘Flex’ got in touch with Bulldog to confirm or deny Armah Mensah Snr’s claim, he confirmed he is indeed the Events Manager for Shatta Wale and not the General Manager. Based on this, the public should be slow in blaming and judging Bulldog as a bad manager when Shatta Wale goes berserk with his utterances.
Perhaps, the best person to direct most question, concerns and complaints to, would be Charles Nii Amarh Snr, Shatta Wale’s father and not Bulldog as he is only responsible for events.
