The Sunyani Traditional Council on Friday, September 13, announced the death of Sunyanimanhemaa, Nana Yaa Nyamaa Puduo II amidst firing of musketry, drumming and wailing.
Nana Nyamaa Puduo II, 64, who was enstooled in 1973 at the age of 18 and reigned for 46 years.
She was enstooled just after completing her Middle School education at the Nyamaa Girls Middle School in Sunyani.
According to the Dwantoahemaa of the Sunyani Traditional Area, Nana Aboaah Boatemaa, Nana Nyamaa Puduo died on August 1, 2019 at the Sunyani Regional Hospital.
Nana Nyamaa Puduo II, a businesswoman was known in private life as Helena Akosua Yeboaa.
The virtual silence that characterised the Boahenkorkor Family meeting with the Omanhene of Sunyani, Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri II and his elders sitting in state at the Sunyani Old Palace gave way to wailing after the Sunmankwaahene, Nana Kwasi Apraku finally announced the death of the Queen.
Family members, especially women started wailing amidst singing of traditional dirges, drumming, firing and blowing of horns.
Details of the funeral arrangements would, however, be announced later.
