Africa Club Competition: Kotoko, Ashantigold opponents named
Ghanaian football giants, Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold will face Nigeria’s Kano Pillars and Equatorial Guinea side Akonangui respectively, in the preliminary round of the 2019/2020 Africa Club Competitions.
The Porcupine Warriors would travel to Nigeria for the first leg encounter against Kano Pillars in the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Champions League scheduled for August 9/10, 2019 with the return leg at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium two weeks later.
Ashantigold, on the other hand, would travel to Equatorial Guinea to face Akonangui in the first leg of the CAF Confederations Cup slated for August 9/10, 2019 with the return encounter at the Len Clay Stadium, two weeks later.
Asante Kotoko would face the winner of the tie between Tunisia’s Etoile du Sahel and Guinea’s Hafia Club, if they triumphed over their Nigeria counterparts.
Finalist of the 2018/2019 Confederation Cup, RSK Berkane, await the winner between Ashantigold and Akonangui in the second round.
Asante Kotoko and Ashantigold earned the right to compete in the 2019/2020 Africa Club competitions after winning the Normalisation Committee Special competition tier one and two respectively.
