Grant seeks for Ghana Coaching role
XYZ Sports can confirm that former Chelsea Coach Avram Grant wants to work with Akwasi Appiah at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The 58-year-old whose last Coaching job came at Serbian side Partizan Belgian has ordered his representatives to explore the possibility of working closely with the Black Stars Coach team led by Akwasi Appiah in a technical Director position at the World Cup.
Avram Grant comes in with a lot of experience having worked with Chelsea, West Ham, Portsmouth and Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel where he won the League title in 1993.
The Ghana Football Association is looking to bolster the technical bench of the Black Stars for the competition but that is subject to an agreement with Akwasi Appiah.
German Coach Klaus Top Moller was linked with the job three months ago but the deal never materialized.
Avram Grant is believed to have a lot of confidence in the Ghana squad and want to come in with his technical ingenuity and push the team to the Semi finals of the competition.
The Israeli has spent over 40 years of his life in Coaching and has also managed the national team of Israel.
Our sources say that Grant is ready to help the Technical team during the World Cup before any additional role is firmed up.
He led Chelsea to the UEFA Champions League final in 2008 where they lost to Manchester United at the Luzniki Stadium in Moscow.
He also led Portsmouth to the final of the English FA Cup in 2010 before leading Partizan Belgrade to the Serbian League title in 2012. Grant has also won the Israeli League trophy twice with Maccabi Tel Aviv where his professional Coaching career started.
