Zoomlion Responds to World Bank Ban Issue
RE: WORLD BANK DEBARS GHANAIAN COMPANY FOR SANCTIONABLE MISCONDUCT IN RELATION TO WASTE MANAGEMENT PROJECT IN LIBERIA.
We have sighted a press release on the official website of the World Bank and circulated in the media, announcing a debarment of Zoomlion Ghana for the misconduct of an officer on its World Bank financed operation in Liberia.
The project in question is a Waste Collection Contract under the Emergency Monrovia Urban Sanitation Project.
The officer involved circumvented laid down company procedure approved for our international operations.
As stated in the World Bank release, appropriate disciplinary measures have been taken against the official by Zoomlion and this has been commended by the World Bank, clearly affirming the company’s status as a good corporate organization.
The World Bank again acknowledges, Zoomlion has made tremendous strides in contributing to socio economic development in countries it currently operates in Africa.
Our operations have created thousands of jobs for teeming youth across the continent and maintaining the best practices in its operations have also been the hallmark of Zoomlion.
This incident is an isolated one for which the necessary remedies suitable to the World Bank have also been instituted.
Indeed Zoomlion’s World Bank project in Liberia is ongoing and has been extended.
Zoomlion still has a cordial relationship with the World Bank and as a people centered company; Zoomlion will always strive to uphold the best standards in enhancing the reputation of Ghana in all its operational countries.
